Can you relate?
You’re struggling to function in relationships, at school or at work; and you think you’re the problem.
You carry past trauma that gets activated in the present.
You are a deep feeler who is overwhelmed by life.
You’re tired of feeling stuck and want to understand why.
Stress is a constant state and not a once and a while thing.
You’re a therapist struggling with compassion fatigue and can’t stop being activated in session.
You’re a parent struggling with your child, feeling like you’re lacking what it takes.
As a parent you often feel dysregulated and therefore helping your child regulate feels impossible.
Looking around your family, you see disconnected individuals and not a bonded unit.
You no longer understand your partner and no longer recognize or feel fulfilled by your relationship.
Working together we can understand the parts of you that are struggling so you can move in your relationships in a new way.
CONSULTATION
If you’re ready to explore, schedule a FREE consultation.
Typically conducted by phone, but you can choose to meet in-person or communicate by email if you’d prefer.
The goal is to discover if working together feels like a fit. This helps ensure better service and outcomes.
Before the consultation, you should consider:
What you’re hoping therapy can help you with
What you’re looking for in a therapist
Your complex feelings about getting started (parts that want to and parts that don’t)
Things you have liked and not liked about previous therapy experiences
Any questions you have about therapy, your therapist, etc.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Cultivating the relationship with yourself. And your Self.
Once we’ve mutually decided we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule our first session, and you’ll be sent documents to review and sign.
As you get started, your therapist will learn more about your internal system and the systems you move in externally.
Individual sessions can look like talking or other ways of expression when talking is hard. We move at your pace.
We value a collaborative approach and work to co-create a space that meets your needs. You’ll be invited to reflect on your experience, thoughts, body sensations, and emotions, etc.
Sessions with children use play in several different forms as play is the language of children.
Weekly therapy is recommended for the most effective results, but you should discuss session frequency with your therapist.
RELATIONSHIP THERAPY
Every relationship has cycles, patterns, and recurring conflicts- the dance of the relationship.
Relationship or Couple Therapy explores how each partner’s story shapes or drives shared interactions.
Getting to know your story in a new way leads to a different understanding of the story of your relationship. A shift in perspective and alignment can create a stronger, more connected bond.
Couples often start therapy with a certain level of urgency, often at a low point. That’s okay. But therapy together can also be useful even if the relationship is not currently conflictual.
The decision to start therapy is often not a mutual one and that’s actually normal. What matters is that your therapist can count on both partners to have concern for each other and the relationship itself.
Relationship therapy can also include friends or other non-romantic partners. The only requirement is the desire to improve the functioning of the relationship.
FAMILY THERAPY
Family dynamics are layered, complex, and often generational. We explore systems and patterns, aiming for a calmer, more intentional family environment.
Haven believes therapy is more effective when more than one family member participates. Change can happen faster with multiple members working together at the same time.
Family therapy blends the experience of each individual with the shared experience of the family unit. Understanding each perspective, optimizing functioning and increasing attunement creates a stronger bond within the family.
Therapy with your family looks like:
Sessions that include all family members
Families with children or families with only adults
Breakout sessions with only certain family members
Parent sessions without children, typically done to support a child’s individual therapy progress
PARENTING CONNECTION
Haven believes therapy is more effective when parents/guardians actively participate and when possible, other external systems support the therapeutic work (e.g., teachers, extended family, etc.).
For minors in individual therapy, parents are highly encouraged to support the therapy as recommended.
Though your therapist will never force you to participate, Haven is likely not the best fit for your family if you are not interested in engaging in your child’s treatment in any way.
At a minimum, parents provide support by understanding the therapy and supporting the work in between sessions. Additional options are encouraged, such as:
Regularly attending parenting connection sessions with your child to work on strengthening your bond directly.
Attending family therapy without your child.
Attending family therapy with your child.
Working with a parenting specialist to support your child’s individual therapy work.

Therapy with Haven looks a lot like what you might expect with some things you might not.
Sessions can look like talking, but can also include art, sand play, or other ways to express yourself (or improve connection) that don’t rely on talking.

We don’t exist in a vacuum. Because of the interconnectedness of the human condition, change can happen faster and more efficiently when we attempt change together. In addition to better and faster, the change we attempt together lasts longer.
Consider this example: If your child is independently learning French you’re likely to pick up the language a word or two at a time. But imagine what might be possible if you studied French together.

Yes!
We are passionate about working with and understanding what the therapist brings into the therapy room and how the therapist’s system plays a role.
We are currently offering therapy services for therapists and will offer consultation and supervision opportunities in the future.
